Georgia Tech Biotechnology Campus Cistern System

Georgia Development Partners was selected by the Board of Regents of The University System of Georgia to construct a water conservation cistern system for the Southern Campus Biotechnology building. The project was engineered to provide water reclamation through a 40,000 gallon cistern system that collects water from two primary sources; cooling tower condensate and building surface water runoff. The combined sources are designed to provide irrigation to Georgia Tech’s native landscaping through the typical southeastern summer drought periods. Landscaping, irrigation and select site furnishings were incorporated into the renovation of the existing building exterior. This project was undertaken during peak student occupancy and required extensive coordination with multiple university departments to insure timely project delivery with no adverse impacts to Georgia Tech’s mission of education and research.
