Snapfinger Creek Wetland

The City of Pine Lake engaged Georgia Development Partners to fast track the construction of a stream and wetland enhancement project that was only in the conceptual drawing stage of design. GDP worked closely with the designer to complete the plans after beginning construction. Nearly 13,000 cubic yards of silt was dredged from Pine Lake, and a new series of channels and log structures were created to improve fish habitat. GDP lowered the spillway 2’ to provide better flood mitigation to the waterbody. Over 1,300 linear feet of stream was altered to provide better flood capacity through the creation of a new flood prone area on one side of the stream and through the addition of 6 Rock Cross Vanes in the channel itself. A new bioretention area was added to capture and slow the release of stormwater into the stream, further improving its flood capacity. GDP brought the project in $300,000 under the City’s control budget.
