Lilburn City Park Stream Restoration
Gwinnett County selected Georgia Development Partners to relocate and improve the water qualify, habitat, biology and overall condition of nearly 800 linear feet of Camp Creek in Lilburn City Park. Stream restoration features included 2 Stone Cross Vanes, 11 Stone J-Hooks, 2 Log J-Hooks, and 1 Scour Log.The Brown and Caldwell design also required the construction of three large bioretention ponds that receive all of the park's strormwater runoff and provide water quality treatment, channel protection, and peak flood attenuation for the receiving creek. The delicate nature of the ponds demanded the installation of a sub-drain system, engineered soils, river rock, overflow drains, and plantings by hand. An 800 linear foot walking trail was built to bring visitors along the creek's edge, and the planting of 228 trees, 426 shrubs, 700 live stakes, and extensive groundcover improved the overall aesthetics of this park's riparian area. The project was completed nearly 5% under budget.
