Lorraine Park Trailhead

Rockdale County contracted with Georgia Development Partners to construct a new trailhead and connecting pathway system along Sweetwater Creek in Lorraine Park. The project included GDOT review, as Highway 138 was widened to account for the new park entrance. New roadway, curb, and gutter were installed and terminated in new asphalt visitor parking lot. Over 405' of new water line and nearly 700' of 18 - 30" RCP stormpipe and river rock lined ditches were included as utility improvements. GDP constructed 700 lf of 12' wide concrete paths and over 2,600 lf of new 5' wide sidewalk throughout the trailhead. The pathways led to two cantilevered overlooks on the creek. Additional hardscape elements included retaining walls, entryway signage, stairs, cheek walls and site furnishings. Landscaping completed the project with extensive grassing, 67 trees, and hundreds of plants and shrubs.
