Brushy Fork Stream Restoration

Gwinnett County selected Georgia Development Partners to restore nearly 800 linear feet of Brushy Fork Creek. The project serves to enhance the water quality of the runoff from Grayson High School into the Big Haynes Creek watershed and to provide environmental educational opportunities for the school’s faculty and students. The CH2M Hill design included two large bioretention ponds that store stormwater runoff and slowly release it into the stream. Two foot bridges were built in conjunction with a nature trail that hosts multiple interpretive signs highlighting the functions of the engineered features within the streambed. Those features included 6 Rock Cross Vanes, 14 J-Hook Cross Vanes, 4 J-Hook Log Vanes, 10 Log Sills, and 7 Step Pools. The project was completed nearly 5% under budget.
