The City of Gainesville awarded GDP the contract to create a park and install water quality improvement measures to a section of the Upper North Fork of Flat Creek in Hall County.Hardscape improvements included the construction of a pervious paver parking lot, sinuous concrete stairs and flat paver areas, greenspace, plantings, and 2,700 linear feet of 10 and 12 foot wide greenway paths, and 400 linear feet of 5 foot wide concrete sidewalks.
The water quality initiatives involved the creation of 4 bioretention ponds, adding 638 feet of stormwater pipe ranging from 15" to 48", and the installation of poured in place headwalls and a 112,227 gallon underground stormwater retention system. Over 1,050 linear feet of stream was restored with the inclusion of 12 Rock Cross Vanes, 2 A-Vane Step Pools, 1 Log Sill, and a Rock Cascade that drops 5 feet in elevation. The project was completed with the planting of 1,400 live stakes and 2,480 plants along the newly restored streambanks.
