North Avenue Streetscape
GDP was selected to serve as Prime Contractor for the Georgia Institute of Technology in demolishing and reconstructing 3,300 linear feet of sidewalk, installing extensive hardscaping and landscaping elements, and burying a telecommunications and a 20kV electrical duct bank along the southern entrance of the campus on North Avenue in downtown Atlanta. The project involved integrating the plans of three designers and the input of five school departments, yet it was successfully managed by conducting bi-weekly meetings that coordinated and communicated schedule and design impacts to each stakeholder. In addition, traffic and pedestrian flow had to be coordinated through GDOT and campus planning, and it involved regularly changing lane closures, sidewalk detours, and safety plans.
